Hemerocallis, or daylilies have undergone a transformation in recent years following the introduction of new varieties mainly from America. Modern varieties have larger flowers in bright clear colours often with a contrasting eye or edge pattern. The colour range includes every conceivable shade of red, orange, yellow pink, peach, salmon, purple and even shading into blue tones. There is a wide diversity in form ranging from the gorgeous round and ruffled form through the huge spider and unusual types, to the charming and floriferous dwarf and miniature kinds. The colours and patterns shapes and sizes now available have to be seen to be believed. The flowers open well even in poor weather and often have an extended flowering period.
