Hostas are superb foliage plants which remain attractive from March to November. Hostas have traditionally been plants for damp and shady places where they thrive however there are varieties, which are suitable for most locations. Many varieties have attractive flowers which are often scented. Hostas should be planted into well cultivated soil which has had some organic matter incorporated and should be watered well until established. They should be left undisturbed as they continue to improve each year.
